Budget Sector Working Groups
The State Department for Planning PS Saitoti Torome arrives in Mombasa this morning for the official opening of the Public Administration and International Relations Pair Sector of the 2022/23 -2024/25 Medium Term Expenditure Framework Budget preparation process.
On arrival in Mombasa the Principal Secretary was received by the Senior Chief Finance Officer, John Munwyoki and the Planning Director for Social and Governance, Mr. Waweru Kamau among others. While addressing participants, PS Saitoti Torome emphasized the need to undertake credible reviews and detailed analysis on previous budgets and make rational decisions going forward.
PS Torome told participants drawn from various Ministries which included officers from the Ministry of Public Service and Gender, Ministry of Devolution and ASALS and the National Treasury and Planning that they should take precautions as they budget for stalled project’s reiterating that budgets should be considered for completion of existing near finished projects and not new ones.
He further mentioned that the role of public participation on budgets processes and implementation of National Government projects should not be ignored when planning for the future.
“It is important to give the public a chance to give their views on what the government is implementing in communities for accountability and ownership.” PS Saitoti Torome said.
