Second Anniversary of the Nairobi Summit on ICPD25
Planning Principal Secretary Saitoti Torome today assured stakeholders that the ICPD25 Kenya Country Commitments will be integrated in the MTP IV which is under development for prioritization and resource allocation and will come into effect from 2022 July to June 2028.
The PS said this during the second anniversary of the ICPD25. Saitoti said that the State Department for Planning has taken measures to strengthen the County Planning departments in each of the 47 counties through reorganisation of departments, provision of more staff and resources.
Another step that has been taken by the State Department for Planning is integration of indicators for the ICPD25 Kenya commitments into online National Integrated Monitoring and Evaluation system otherwise known as e-Nimes. This digital platform will enable implementers of various commitments to upload the implementation progress on quarterly, biannual, or annual basis and produce implementation status reports.
“The effective implementation of ICPD25 Kenya Country Commitments will enable the country to achieve other National, Regional and Global goals such as Kenya Vision 2030, Africa Union Agenda 2063 and Sustainable Development Goals. “
Saitoti urged all the implementers from different sectors, including civil society organisations and private sector to work together for the good of the country’s population.
