Review on the implementation and tracking of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda(BETA) held at Kenya School of Government(KSG).

Economic Planning Principal Secretary, James Muhati  on 13th February officially opened a two day Workshop convened by the State Department for Economic Planning for all Planning Technical and Non -Technical Directors including Planners working in the Central Planning and Projects Monitoring Departments (CPPMDs)  at the Kenya School of Government(KSG).

The workshop was being held to review the implementation and tracking of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda(BETA).

Other key objectives for the workshop include; the review of the current Performance Contracts Structure, identify its challenges and areas of improvement. Review the extent to which the BETA Priorities and how they have been incorporated in the Performance Contracts.

Lastly, the workshop will reflect on the recently conducted Government Performance Delivery Roadshows for Ministries including a reflection on the  observations made and emerging issues in view of the roles of the CPPMDs.

In his address to the Economists at KSG, PS James Muhati reiterated that the State Department is working on skills and capacity development for all staff to ensure that the Government benefits from officers who are sharply conversant with the processes, people and capacity capabilities in their areas of jurisdiction.

He said that the first phase of capacity development was rolled out in January and it’s ongoing where both technical and nontechnical personnel are undertaking the training sessions. It’s projected that this will take place within two years or less to complete so as to cover all staff.
