Economic Planning Principal Secretary James Muhati was the Chief Guest today on the fourth day of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) Kenya Annual Conference 2024 held at Prideinn Hotel and Resort in Mombasa. ISACA is an association of professionals in the IT-related industry.

The Principal Secretary, who is a Platinum Member of the Association, pointed out that this year’s theme “Digital Trust: Charting the Course for a Resilient Future” resonated well in a fast-paced world increasingly driven by digital technologies.

He emphasized that Africa has lagged other regions in technological advancements due to insufficient capital, shortage of skilled workforce and institutional barriers.

To reverse the disparities in infrastructure and bridge connectivity gaps in Kenya, the PS said that the recently launched MTP IV, recognized the transformative power of ICT.

“For example, under the Digital Superhighway and Creative Economy, 1450 digital hubs would be established in all wards and 100,000km of National Optic Fibre Backbone Infrastructure would be laid among many other initiatives,” the PS said, adding that this will connect one million youths to jobs through Business Process Outsourcing in addition to streamlining citizen access to government services.
