Public Sector Hearings for the FY 2025/26 and the medium-term budget
The Public Sector Hearings for the FY 2025/26 and the Medium-Term Budget were officially launched today 20th October, 2024 by the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning, CPA John Mbadi Ng’ongo at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
In a speech read on his behalf by the National Treasury Principal Secretary, Dr. Chris Kiptoo, the CS said that the government aims to come up with a budget that is inclusive of all the citizens and stakeholders.
“An inclusive budget will ensure that all Kenyans get quality services from the government as well as ensure an accelerated economic growth in all sectors”, CS Mbadi said.
During the launch, the Economic Planning Secretary Timothy Gakuu made a presentation of the Fourth Medium Term Plan (MTP-IV) on behalf of the Principal Secretary for Economic Planning, James Muhati.
He highlighted the policy priorities in the MTP-IV 2023-2027 showing a linkage between policy, plans and budget.
The three-day event is a platform that will provide Kenyans with a chance to give their inputs. Additionally, it will complement the proposals provided by the working sector groups in order to enable the National Treasury to come up with an inclusive budget plan, suitable for the common mwananchi and the Kenyan economy at large.
Present during the launch were: Chairman of Budget and Appropriations Committee, Hon. Ndindi Nyoro, Principal Secretaries from various State Departments, Macro and Fiscal Affairs Director, Mr. Musa Kathanje among others.
