Together Cooperating in Human Development:A Higher Education and Research Development Project Seminar

The Economic Planning Principal Secretary, James Muhati has on 23rd January, 2025 officially addressed participants attending a Seminar on the dissemination of findings for: “TOGETHER Research Project” held at Kenyatta University.

 

The main objective of the ‘TOGETHER Project’  is to support equitable, sustainable and inclusive human development among other aspects. The project aligns well with the socio-economic transformative agenda of sustainable development as envisaged in the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

 

“The government will continue to support research initiatives as well as provide an enabling environment to enhance public-private collaborations in the field of project management, human development as well as project monitoring and evaluation,” PS Muhati said.

 

Additionally, the Principal Secretary stated that the government underscores the critical role that research plays in planning and policy formulation.

 

The TOGETHER Project which has been implemented for the past three years supports the enhancement of training opportunities on sustainable human development for government officials, Kenyan students, young researchers, development actors and civil society operators.

 

In his address, PS Muhati applauded the Italian government for their financial support through the Italian Agency for Development Corporation (AICS) and  all the other project implementors for their immense contribution to the project success.

 

He added that this will go a long way in reinforcing and advancing the capacity for the specified professionals as well as boosting Kenya’s economic growth through partnerships.

 

In attendance were: The Italian Ambassador to Kenya, H.E Roberto Natali,the President of the Committee for the Development of People’s Lives (CSIP), Dr. Maura Viezzoli, Kenyatta University  Vice Chancellor, Prof. Waceke Wanjohi, Vice Rector of University of Pavia Italy, Prof. Antonella Forlino among others.
