Status of the State Department for Economic Planning Performance Contract FY 2024/2025 Mid-Year Review

Economic Planning, Principal Secretary James Muhati, convened a meeting with State Department for Economic Planning Directors drawn from the Technical Directorates on Wednesday 29th  January, 2025 at the Treasury Building.

The meeting assessed the progress of the State Department’s Performance Contract for the Financial Year 2024/2025.

During the discussions, achievements were acknowledged, pending targets were reviewed, and strategies were devised to ensure full implementation.

PS Muhati called upon the Central Planning and Project Monitoring Department (CPPMD) to evaluate the Performance Contract and collaborate with the relevant departments to identify outstanding targets. He stressed the importance of developing concrete plans to guarantee the successful achievement of all set targets for the current Financial Year.

Additionally, a presentation was made on the Proposed Economic Planning Process, which will serve as the foundation for drafting the Economic Planning Bill and Policy. The PS highlighted that these initiatives would contribute to the development of a unified National Plan, enhancing the effectiveness of economic planning and implementation of development projects across Kenya.

PS Muhati concluded by disclosing that the Public Service Commission of Kenya (PSCK) had approved the Revised Organizational Structure of the State Department for Economic Planning. He noted that this restructuring would strengthen the department’s functions and accelerate national development, ultimately improving livelihoods.
