Macroeconomic and Financial Management Institute of Eastern and Southern Africa (MEFMI),Secretariat Consultative Visit to the National Treasury and Economic Planning
Economic Planning Principal Secretary James Muhati on 12th February 2025,met with the Executive Director of the Macroeconomic and Financial Management Institute of Eastern and Southern Africa (MEFMI), Dr. Louis Kasekende, on behalf of the National Treasury Principal Secretary, Dr. Chris Kiptoo, at the Treasury Building.
The meeting focused on exploring areas of partnership in Public Financial Management and Cyber-Security in the Banking Sector. The goal was to strengthen the national government’s capacity in key economic areas.
Both parties discussed ways to build strategic partnerships aimed at improving the delivery of financial services and empowering government institutions to better navigate the challenges they face in areas such as Debt Management, Artificial Intelligence, Climate Change and Capacity Building.
The collaboration is expected to enhance coordination and knowledge-sharing, which will support the successful implementation of reforms and initiatives to improve financial management and economic planning.
This consultative mission is part of an ongoing effort to boost the delivery of capacity development initiatives that address the unique needs and challenges faced by the 14 member countries.
Also present at the meeting were the Director General of Public Debt Management Raphael Owino, SDEP Directors of Planning Benson Kiriga and James Maina, among others.
