Africa Agenda 2063 validation workshop held at Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi from 18th -20th December 2023
Kenya is privileged to host the AUDA-NEPAD Validation workshop of Core indicators and Costing Framework of the Africa Agenda 2063,Second Ten Year Implementation Plan at Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi from today 18th -20th December 2023.The Workshop has drawn participants from the 55 African Union Member States, representatives from Regional Economic Communities(RECs) and Development partners.
While officially opening the Validation Workshop, Economic Planning Principal Secretary James Muhati indicated that Kenya has integrated the aspirations of the Agenda 2063 and that of the Country’s Fourth Medium Term Plan (MTP IV).The implementation and monitoring of the two Plans will be eased through the framework.
Kenya reported a notable improvement on the implementation of the Agenda 2063 as reported in the First Ten Year Implementation Plan from 51% in 2021 to 61% in 2023.
The Principal Secretary also highlighted that the Second Ten-Year Implementation Plan of the Agenda 2063 presents a period for accelerating the implementation of the Agenda which requires:
✓Strong and transformative leadership;
✓Effective communication and awareness;
✓Appropriate design and implementation considerations;
✓Proper costing and financing;and
✓Enhanced data quality for periodic reporting.
Among those present during the opening was Dr.Monique Nsanzabaganwa, Deputy Chairperson, African Union Commission and Timothy Gakuu Economic Planning Secretary.
