APRM High-Level Peer Review Forum on South-South and Triangular Cooperation
After attending the APRM High-Level Peer Review Forum on South-South and Triangular Cooperation which came to an end in Cairo this afternoon, the Chief Administrative Secretary, Eric Wafukho paid a courtesy call to the Kenyan Embassy in Egypt- Cairo where they held exclusive talks with Amb.Major Gen Joff Otieno (KAF RTD) on the need to continue strengthening the bilateral relationship between Kenya and Egypt and tap into the economic, educational , social and cultural opportunities offered.
Egypt is the second largest consumer of Kenyan tea and this provides an opportunity for continued marketing and protection of Kenya’s tea brand in the region while also opening space for Kenya’s horticulture , livestock and cut flowers to find their space on Egyptian market of more than 102 million population and which enjoys 14 million tourists every year.
Under the spirit of the South-South Cooperation , opportunities exist where Egypt and Kenya could play a significant role in driving climate change agenda through mechanisms and instruments such as the Nile Basin Comprehensive Framework Agreement that manages water resources for sustainable development.
With the opening global market and associated competitiveness , the leaders underscored the need for Kenya to continue developing skill sets and inculcating positive values of among its workforce patriotism, competence, excellence, conscientiousness , initiative, integrity , commitment , performance, meritocracy, and patriotism. This would help compete with countries that are taking nothing for granted in developing their workforce for competition on global standards.
Wafukho was accompanied by NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat Chief Executive Officer, Amb. Dr. Samori Okwiya and APRM Director, Mr Peter Kimemia.
