Deputy President Visits State Department for Economic Planning Booth at the 2024 Nairobi International Trade Fair

The State Department for Economic Planning (SDEP) was privileged to have H. E the Deputy President, Hon. Rigathi Gachagua visit its booth during the on going 2024 Nairobi International Trade Fair being held at Jamhuri Park, Nairobi. The State Department is exhibiting together with it’s Semi Autonomous Government Agencies.
The Deputy President who officially opened the Trade Fair on behalf of H. E. The President, Dr. William Ruto engaged with SDEP team and inquired what the Department was doing to ensure Kenyans are informed about Government plans. In response, SDEP team outlined a comprehensive array of resources available to the public, emphasizing that all relevant information can be accessed through the Department’s website and digital platforms which are crucial tools for disseminating information to all citizens.
Additionally, the SDEP staff highlighted the Department’s focus on promoting economic literacy and environmental sustainability. The team pointed out that the website and other digital platforms are regularly updated to ensure that citizens have access to timely and accurate information that can help them make informed decisions regarding both economic opportunities and sustainable practices.
The Deputy President commended these efforts, acknowledging the critical role that accessible information plays in fostering an informed public. He encouraged the SDEP to continue enhancing its digital outreach strategies and to explore innovative methods for engaging the public, thereby reinforcing the government’s vision of creating an inclusive economic environment.
This year’s theme, “Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth,” reflects the government’s commitment to fostering sustainable practices in agriculture and trade which is in line with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
