Economic Planning PS James Muhati familiarization tour at the NEPAD/APRM offices
This afternoon the Economic Planning Principal Secretary James Muhati made a familiarization tour at the NEPAD/APRM offices where he was briefed by the Chief Executive Officer Amb. Dr. Samori Okwiya.
The New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) is a socio-economic flagship programme of the AU whose primary objectives are: to eradicate poverty, promote sustainable growth and development; integrate Africa in the world economy and accelerate the empowerment of women. NEPAD was ratified by the AU programme that supports regional and continental integration and Africa’s Development objectives.
In addition NEPAD coordinates implementation of Africa Union Agenda 2063, blue print and master plan for transforming Africa into the powerhouse of the future.
The PS was briefed on:
– Mandate of AUDA-NEPAD
– NEPAD programmes activities in Kenya
– The Natural Resources Governance and Food Security
– Regional Integration and infrastructure and trade
– Human Capital Development and implementation of AU Agenda 2063 among others.
Present during the tour was the Economic Planning Secretary Madam Katherine Muoki and Director Administration Mr Joel Makori.
