Kenya Hosts Continental Workshop on Agenda 2063 Domestication

The Economic Planning Principal Secretary, James Muhati has officially opened the Continental Orientation Workshop on the Domestication of Agenda 2063 Second Ten-Year Implementation Plan (STYIP) at a Nairobi hotel.

In his address, PS Muhati emphasized Kenya’s commitment to aligning its development strategies with Agenda 2063, particularly through the ongoing Medium-Term Plan IV (2023-2027). He highlighted the urgency of accelerating the implementation of the second phase of the plan, stressing the need for resilience and sustainability in development efforts.

Reflecting on the review of the first ten-year plan, he noted that Kenya’s performance on Aspirations One and Two of Agenda 2063 had improved from 59% to 61%. He described Agenda 2063 as a unifying vision for Africa’s self-determination and long-term progress.

The domestication process involves aligning and integrating the Second Ten-Year Implementation Plan (STYIP) of Agenda 2063 into the policies, business strategies, and development frameworks at national, regional, and local levels. The objective is to foster collective ownership, structured implementation, and accountability in achieving the seven aspirations of Agenda 2063 and its STYIP moonshots.

In attendance were: Botho Kebabonye Bayendi- AUC Director Office of Strategic Planning and Delivery, Director of Planning, James Maina, Officers from AUC Member States among others.
