Launch of Tree Growing Campaign in Misango Hills Kakamega County
Today the PS, SDEP, Mr.James Muhati is presiding over the Launch of Tree Growing Campaign in Misango Hills Kakamega County. A site that was recommended by the Kakamega Kenya Forest Service Office.
This Launch is in line with His Excellency Dr. William Ruto on National Tree Planting Campaign launched last year aimed at accelerating tree cover to 30 percent by 2032.
This will ensure the implementation of the 15 billion National Tree Growing Restoration Strategy.
Misango Hills RESTORATION Ecosystem: It is a Tourist Attraction CENTRE and the highest possible point in Kakamega County, with a water tower for over 52 streams that serve a population of over 23000 people.
Today a total of 10,000 trees are being planted with 9000 planted by public officers and 1000 issued to members of the Public in the area to grow on their private farms.
The Presidential directive on the implementation of National Tree Growing Strategy takes all societal and government approach since the Government needs all stakeholders on board to achieve this objective.
The stakeholders include individuals, private sector, corporates, religious organizations, NGOs and MDAs.
In total this event envisages to reach over 1000 local people and pupils from neighbouring schools.
