Meeting with the Finance and National Planning Departmental Committee on the Supplementary Estimates No. 2 for FY 2024/25
The Economic Planning Principal Secretary, James Muhati has today, Thursday, 6th March 2025 met with the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning to consider the Supplementary Estimates No. 2 for the Financial Year 2024/25 at Bunge towers.
The purpose of this meeting chaired by the Molo Member of Parliament, Hon. Kimani Kuria was to deliberate on matters of policies, programmes and expenditure ceiling of the State Departments under the National Treasury and Economic Planning Ministry’s purview, Office of the Controller of Budget and the Commission on Revenue Allocation as contained in the Supplementary Estimates No. 2 for FY 2024/25.
During the meeting, a comprehensive presentation of the implementation status of the Financial Year 2024/25 budget as at 31st December 2024 was done. The presentation entailed the Department’s programmes which include Economic Policy and Planning, National Statistical Information Services, Monitoring and Evaluation Services and General Administration Planning and Support Services.
An appeal for the Committee to consider allocating additional funding for the implementation of key activities, entailed in the Supplementary Estimate No.2 for the FY 2024/25 which include among others Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of the Fourth Medium Term Plan, Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) was made.
PS Muhati emphasized on the importance of these considerations which will help the State Department in delivering its Economic Development Agenda and ensuring timely and effective implementation of its mandate.
A comprehensive overview of the Variations to the State Department and its Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies (SAGAs) approved budget for FY 2024/25 was conducted, including a breakdown by program, an explanation for the variations, and an updated schedule of outputs and performance targets.
The PS was flanked by the Economic Planning Secretary, Timothy Gakuu, Senior Chief Finance Officer, Julia Ng’ang’a, Director of Planning, James Maina, KIPPRA Acting Executive Director Dr. Eldah Onsomu, NEPAD/APRM Chief Executive Director,Dr.Samori A Okwaya among others.
