Benson Kiriga
Head, Macroeconomic Policy and Development Planning Directorate
Benson Kiriga is the Director of Planning, Macroeconomic Policy and Development Planning Directorate in the State Department for Economic Planning, Ministry of National Treasury and Economic Planning.
He holds a Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in Economics from the University of Nairobi. He is also undertaking PhD studies in Economics from the University of Nairobi. He has extensive research experience in public policy having served as a Senior Policy Analyst and HOD in the Macroeconomics Department in Kenya Institute for Public Policy research and Analysis (KIPPRA). He has previously worked as a Senior Economist in the Ministry of Finance and in the Ministry of Planning and National Development.
His areas of research interest include public finance, macroeconomic modelling, econometrics and macroeconomic policy research. He has been involved in preparation of various Government of Kenya policy documents and is quite experienced in the Central Government fiscal operations. Benson has served in the Board of Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) as an alternate Director to the Principal Secretary of the State Department for Economic Planning.
