Mr. John Kinama was appointed Director of Administration, State Department for Economic Planning in November, 2023 having risen through the ranks from District Officer and serving in several Ministries. Prior to his current posting, he was the Director, Corporate Services at the National Police Service Commission. He has also worked at the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission as a Deputy Director, Administration/Director Administration and Human Resources as well as Deputy Secretary/Senior Deputy Secretary at the Office of the President /Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government.
He holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Nairobi.
He has attended various performance improvement courses including Corporate Governance for Public Sector Boards, Kenya School of Government, Public Sector Financial Management, Kenya School of Government, Member of KAPAM, Strategic Leadership Development Programme, Kenya Institute of Administration, Transportation Management Programme, ESAMI, Cabinet Memorandum Writing Seminar, Kenya Institute of Administration, Advanced Public Administration Course, Kenya Institute of Administration and Administration Police Certificate, APTC Embakasi.
Mr. Kinama has a wide experience in Administration in the Public Sector and has participated in Joint Commissions of Co-operations in Egypt, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Zambia and South Africa. Initiated MOU’s on Police Cooperation, Team Leader in Several RRI Initiatives at the Ministry Headquarters and State Law Office, Participated in Transformative Leadership Seminars, Member of Ministerial Management Unit, Chair of Ministerial Training Committee, Ministerial Human Resource Advisory Committee, and Technical Evaluation: National Police Service Command, Control and Communicate Project.
On 12th December, 2023, Mr. Kinama was award the Order of the Grand Warrior by His Excellency the President Hon. William Samoei Ruto, PhD., CGH.
