Official Launch of the Capacity Building Workshop for the Second Group of CPPMUs Heads and their Deputies at a Naivasha Hotel
Planning Principal Secretary Saitoti Torome officially launching the capacity building workshop for the second group of CPPMUs Heads and their Deputies at a Naivasha Hotel.
The training will serve as Training of Trainers. It is therefore envisaged that the team being trained will propagate the training to other technical departments and agencies in their institutions.
Saitoti said that the State Department for Planning will support this process through provision of technical support upon request to ensure that there is a critical mass of technical officers in implementing agencies who can execute the PIM agenda and enhance the level of compliance.
The main objectives of the the workshop are:-
- To demonstrate the intricacies of Public Investment Management requirements with specific focus on method of approaching project identification and Planning; pre-feasibility and feasibility; implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting; project closure, sustainability and impact assessment of viable projects.
- To disseminate the roles, responsibilities and relationships of various institutions involved in PIM processes: with a re-emphasis on the role of CPPMUs in planning and budgeting;
- To assess preparedness for CPPMUs in carrying out PIM processes.
Present during the launch were among others Elijah Kinaro Head Public Investment Management, Economic Planning Directors: Masini Ichwara, Joseph Mwangi, John Kimani, Moses Mburu, and Cyrus Mbogo.
