Spanish Courtesy Call to PS
On Friday 13/1/2023 afternoon, the State Department for Economic Planning Principal Secretary, James Muhati held a meeting with two staffs from the Embassy of Spain.
The Chief Economic & Commercial Counsellor, Anna Menendez and the Commerce Attaché, Beatriz Rodriguez, who paid a courtesy call to the PS in his office at Treasury Building said that the purpose of their visit was to discuss bilateral economic cooperation and investments opportunities.
The Chief Economic Counselor Anna Menendez explained that the Government of Spain is interested in supporting Kenya in projects’ development such as; projects bordering on Infrastructure Development, Water and Irrigation, and Energy Sector, especially solar and renewable energy.
She added that Spain is diversly encouraging more Consultants and Companies to build businesses locally asking them to partner with people in Medium and Small Enterprises for value addition and marketing of their products abroad. She echoed the Kenyan Economy saying that it was one of the biggest in the region with conducive environment for business growth and investment.
On his part, PS Muhati said that Kenya is open to forge partnerships with the International Community in doing businesses which will enable the economy to expand in an upward trajectory and promote economic development through reaching out to more citizens and changing their standards of living.
He asked the visiting Economic Staff to review their Economic Plans and tap on the Kenya Kwanza new Economic Model of the Bottom Up approach which is aimed at improving the Country’s GDP, increase revenue collection, boost domestic savings and reduction of debts incurred through borrowing.
Attending the meeting was the Economic Planning Secretary Katherine Muoki and the Macroeconomic and International Cooperation Director, James Maina.
