The Kenya Population and Development Conference 2025 officially opened

Economic Planning Principal Secretary James Muhati officially opened the Kenya Population and Development Conference 2025 on behalf of the Cabinet Secretary FCPA John Mbadi.

The Conference which is taking place at the University of Nairobi brings together the Academia, Researchers and Policy makers.

CS Mbadi said that the conference provided a golden opportunity for policy makers, programme implementers, academia, researchers and all stakeholders to discuss contemporary population issues, since the outcome will contribute to the achievement of National goals and aspirations.

While developing countries are faced with youth bulge and unemployment challenges arising from rapid population growth, developed countries are experiencing population ageing and shrinking working-age population due to low fertility therefore necessitating the adjustment of population and development policies to address these demographic shifts, stated the CS.

Among those present during the opening were: The Ag. Vice Chancellor, the University of Nairobi Prof. Margaret Hutchinson, NCPD Board member James Kimonye, NCPD Director General Dr. Sheikh Mohammed, Economic Planning Secretary Timothy Gakuu and UNFPA Deputy Country Representative
