World Population Day
The National Treasury and Planning Chief Administrative Secretary, Eric Simiyu Wafukho this morning officiated as Chief Guest at the World Population Day held at Our Lady of Nazareth Primary School in Embakasi Sub-County under the theme, “Building Forward Better-Safegustding women, adolescents and youth empowement and rights in the Covid-19 era”
Wafukho, who was representing the Cabinet Secretary, Amb.Ukur Yatani, outlined policy interventions and development priorities that were being undertaken by Government to help “build forward better and safeguard women, adolescents and youth empowement and rights in the covid-19 era.”
Together with represenratives from other ministries and partners present at the ceremony ,Wafukho led the National Council for Population and Development and the public in launching The State of Kenya Population Report 2021 prepared by NCPD and the State of the World Population Report prepared by UNFPA
Other leaders at the event included Dr. Ademola Olajide, Country Representative , UNFPA; Ms. Maimuna Bonaya, Chief Administrative Secretary, Education; Hon. Jebii Kilimo, Chief Administrative Secretary, Public Service and Gender; Dr. Rashid Athman, Chief Administrative Secretary, Health; Hon. Dr. David Ngugi, Chairman, NCPD Board; and, Dr. Mohamed Shiekh, DA , NCPD.
The day’s highlights was speeches ,music and dance that captured the mood under a tagline, “Rieng ni kulinda ma yieng’.
