The Official Closing Of Africa Capital Week 2026 With A Call For Greater Financial Integration
The inaugural Africa Capital Week 2026 forum officially came to a close today Tuesday, 8th September, 2026 in Nairobi.
The two-day summit brought together key Stakeholders to advance Africa’s capital markets agenda and deliberate on ways of deploying capital to finance Africa’s transformation.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, the Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Dr. Bonface Makokha, lauded delegates for the quality of discussions, depth of ideas shared and partnerships forged during the inaugural forum.
He observed that while Africa has capital, opportunity and talent, there is a need to address fragmented markets, inadequate project preparation, regulatory barriers and the disconnect between savings and productive investment.
The PS underscored the Nairobi Declaration which calls for enhanced regulatory cooperation, greater integration of African securities exchanges, development of an Africa Bankable Projects Pipeline and mobilization of institutional capital for infrastructure advancement.
In addition, the PS emphasized that the success of the commitments made during the forum would be measured by tangible results, including capital mobilized, enterprises financed, projects delivered, markets deepened and jobs created.
“Nairobi is the starting point. Africa is the destination. Let us move from fragmentation to integration; from potential to investment; and from announcements to deployment,” PS Makokha stated.
He further announced that Africa Capital Week will become an annual continental platform.
PS Makokha thanked the delegates, speakers, investors, partners and the Secretariat for their contribution towards the success of the inaugural forum before officially declaring Africa Capital Week 2026 closed.
The premier Continental financial forum served as a collaborative platform to unlock capital flows, boost market liquidity and drive economic integration across African Nations.
