Economic Planning Principal Secretary James Muhati meets Malawi delegation

Economic Planning Principal Secretary James Muhati this morning met a delegation from Malawi that paid a courtesy call on him at hisTreasury Building office.

The delegation which is led by Commissioner of Statistics, Shelton Kanyanda comprises officials from the Malawi National Statistics office and is on a week-long study mission in Kenya. The study tour is aimed at building their capacity on implementation of national statistical programmes such as censuses and surveys enabling them to learn how these programmes are conducted in the advent of quick technological transition.

In addition, the delegation will share experiences on collection, analysis, reporting, dissemination and use of administrative data.
This mission which runs from 19th to 23rd is part of the South -South Cooperation among developing countries.
PS Muhati emphasized the importance of data in making informed decisions. The team was taken through the mandate/functions of SDEP as well as the linkage between the State Department and Kenya National Bureau of Statistics.

In attendance was the Economic Planning Secretary Timothy Gakuu, Director Benson Kiriga who is an alternate Board member of KNBS, Director General Dr. Mcdonald Obudho who is accompanied by Senior officials from KNBS and several Directors of Planning.
